A series of severe rain storms early in 2015 wreaked havoc in many parts of Malawi as many homes were destroyed and growing crops devastated.<\/p>\n

Many of those affected will rebuild their simple homes using locally available resources – mud bricks, mud for mortar, and in some cases, plastic sheeting covered with grass for a roof. \u00a0In truth, many of the homes which collapsed did so because they were so poorly constructed in the first place.<\/p>\n

For many people, particularly the elderly, to rebuild or repair is difficult or impossible even using local materials, especially if they don’t have a strong family network to help them.<\/p>\n

It has been our privilege to help a few such individuals by constructing a small (typically 6m x 5m – 18ft x 15ft), but much more robust dwelling using burnt bricks, cement for the foundation and mortar, and a corrugated roof. We trust that these simple homes will be a blessing to those who benefit from them. What a joy to remember that our Lord Jesus Christ has prepared an eternal home in heaven for all who trust in Him!<\/p>\n\n\n
